Looking to breed my dog Sophie, who’s a 2 year old Cavapoo mix who’s super sweet. This is my first time breeding a dog, and am thinking it’ll be a one-off thing, and many of my family and friends love Sophie and want puppies of their own!
She’s overall very healthy and active, eats well and loves digging for/chasing after things, snuggling and belly rubs. Ideally, would be looking to breed with a confident dog with less separation anxiety, as Sophie struggles with that a bit. Also looking for a smaller dog— Sophie is around twenty-five lbs, so larger than thirty-five pounds is a no go.
I have a full genetic panel for Sophie, and the main item of concern is that she is double-recessive for PRCD exon, meaning she’s likely to develop retinal atrophy later in life and lose her vision. I want to make sure any dog we breed her with is clear of that trait, which will ensure none of the puppies inherit that.
